Long time no see πŸ“–

Today I went to take blood for a check-up. Here I was, seated, thinking which arm they would take the blood from.

Turn my head slightly to the side and what do I SEE?

A Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb Novel that the Doctor is reading. Ensued a conversation about whom is better - Nora Roberts or J. D. Robb.

It's a tie Ladies and Gentlemen. She thinks it's J. D. Robb and I am a 100% NR fan. I don't care for the last books - too much thriller for me. And she doesn't care for the oldies... gasp gasp gasp πŸ˜’ I am not trusting the blood work's results now πŸ˜› (a person who says a thing like that, is capable of anything πŸ˜‰)

But I was so happy to bring back the #peoplereadingNora!!!

(isn't the cover awesome? ALMOST enough to convince me...)

Whatever you are reading whenever I see you reading Nora Roberts or J. D. Robb we will instantly become Besties. We are the GOOD ones πŸ’•

5 best Nora Roberts books you should read

"Why do you read it?"

She frowned; he hadn't turned one of her questions back on her for some time. "I don't as a rule, except yours."

 "I'm flattered. Why mine?"

"Your first was recommended to me, and then…" She hesitated, not wanting to say she'd been hooked from the first page. Instead, she ran her fingertip around the rim of her glass and sorted through her answer. "You have a way of creating atmosphere and drawing characters that make the impossibility of your stories perfectly believable."

"Because it was fascinating," Bryan answered immediately. "Because by the time I was on page three, I was so into it you couldn't have gotten the book away from me with a crowbar."

MY - 5 Best Nora Roberts books you should read - CHOICES

This is one of the hardest challenges for me.

We all go through different moods through the day, month, life... and Nora has so many books that you should could read a book per day during a year, with a few days to spare and re-read your favorites πŸ˜€; hence it is very hard for me to commit to a TOP 5/10/15 or what-book-would-I-take-to-a-desert-island?...

Read the TOP 5 on top and then follow with my, today's, top 5:

πŸ“– New Book πŸ”‘

Dear husband is starting a new book today; series in fact - The Key Trilogy.

And we've just shared a laugh when I told him (again πŸ˜‰) that it is one of my favorite. It is. And I know it will be his too.

Here we go... again πŸ˜‰

Or why NETFILX would like to have a word with Nora Roberts πŸ˜‰

During vacations  we enjoyed leisure time watching Netflix Series and Movies.

The past weekend we went to a Fair and they had Nora's books for sale in a stall. I picked this one as it is one of my favorite and I thought DH would like to return to his nightly chapter read of a Nora book when Autumn arrived.

First wrong move was to put the book on his night stand. He's a guy right? It's not like he is one of those I-can't-wait-to-read-this-book Nora gals πŸ˜‰ (or wasn't...)

On Monday he humored me and we watched "The Intern". I've seen it lots of times but wanted him to watch it too. He did. He enjoyed but before going to sleep he read a bit (which was weird per se as my husband is a guy who if he's watching a movie he's watching a movie, he can :gasp: read a chapter every night and close the book and go to sleep after)...
On Tuesday and everyday after he told me he'd rather read the book, and maybe on weekends we could continue the Netflix binge πŸ˜‰

He's moving through HIGH NOON (titled "RefΓ©m do Amor" in the Portuguese edition)
like a seasoned Nora Roberts' fan πŸ’“

πŸ“– Nora at the Beach πŸ–️ - now and then

In time for vacations I received two emails.

One remembering what I took to the beach 10 years ago - I still remember being so happy for having all the time in the world to read it - and the one I will take this year.

It's good - no, it's awesome - to count on Nora for memorable vacations as her books imprint it-selves in those lazy and happy days of Summer.

Spend your summer with #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts in the close-knit vacation community of Lakeview, North Carolina. There, two lost souls look to escape the past and discover a new life together. Read UNDER CURRENTS, an extraordinary novel about the power of family to harm — and to heal.

"Help", he said

Husband has been reading Philip Roth's "Portnoy's Complaint" - why my son would think it was a good choice for his father I have no idea -
and I could feel him restless and antsy when we read side by side before bedtime - me with my novels and him with anything-I-can-grab books...

I asked what was wrong and he said "You HAVE to find me a new book to read. I hate this. Is there a Nora's  I can have?" and I said no as he went through Nora's books as I've never seen a woman do LOL.

But I took pity on him and on my Lunch hour headed for the bookstore...

There are still books published in Portuguese that I only have in English or in Kindle... so it's no hardship and I guess I'll earn good-wifey points from it.

I Love this Title. So I (even) used it when I gave it too him... corny I know, but
 "From The Heart" it goes:

Dear husband was happy as a clam. He started on it immediately and contrary to his customary 1 chapter per night (who reads like this anyway?!?!?) he went on until he thought if he didn't stop he wouldn't sleep until finished.

Three Lovely Novels, all my favorite, for my handsome and sweet husband:

Tonight and Always

A Matter of Choice

My husband is at it again

Now it's Angels Fall...

I'm feeling very smug with his suspictions and his who-did-it-?-... first  it was Doc, then he tried to enter Nora's mind and said it could be Brody... today the finger, and mind, points to Mac Drubber...

It's never who's in plain sight πŸ˜‰

“It’s the story that matters.”

Dear husband isn't (fully) into Midnight Bayou... yet... he says I sent him from Laura (Templeton), whom he seems to have a crush on, to the middle of the jungle... no idea why he says this... I'll have to reread MB to learn what he's talking about.

Midnight Bayou's a book in the maybe-some-day-when-I-grow-up-shelf for years. I couldn't go beyond the first pages. Too intense for me. So I put it aside;  besides at the time I still had dozens of Nora books to go through. One day I put my grown-up-and-face-the-life's pants and in two days I read it. And Loved it.

I was a bit afraid to give it to my husband, bearing in mind my own reaction to the first read of it. But I'm running out of Portuguese versions of Nora Novels and it was  either Midnight Bayou or Homeport.

I'm planning to give him books on Christmas.

I'm thinking of Key trilogy which I still don't have in Portuguese.

Win win situation:  a Christmas Gift that he'll really like and enjoy and my collection keeps growing.

I've created a monster

Dear Husband is still reading Finding the Dream - one chapter to go - and he's already  begging for another book.

Midnight Bayou is next.

Dear Husband is at it again

I have a problem!

Dear husband is reading the last trilogy I have available in Portuguese - and says he won't read in English or French.

Some time ago I stopped reading and buying books from Nora in my language. They wouldn't come as quick as Nora was writing it - and when I started Nora had already published so many I wanted to read that the solution was to buy them in any language I could read - and (you know the feeling!!!) I just couldn't wait for the Portuguese version.

He's now reading Margo and Josh story in Daring to Dream. And enjoying it too much for my peace of mind facing the dilemma of no-more-Nora-in-PT.

I never expected him to enjoy so much when I gave him the first one. He followed through my collection as my mind wouldn't allow me to go through a Box of Godiva πŸ˜‰

(I assure you that one of his Christmas gifts will be a set from Nora Books I always wanted to have and wouldn't buy when having already. I can hear you thinking "win-win situation for her". In Love, War... and Nora books... all's fair)

Nora's Power

Today on the train there was a man reading... not so rare... but I always have to know what people are reading... between his page's turn I saw it was a paperback. From Nora!

It's "From the Heart" that contains "Tonight and Always", "A Matter of Choice" and "Endings and Beginnings".

cover of the book in its Portuguese version

Times are changing when a man reads Nora Roberts, on a train, in a Latin Country. I told you of my ways in converting Dear Husband here and here. But still I don't see him owning a NR Novel in public... yet ;)

Could hardly refrain myself from congratulating the man (do you think an hug would be too much?! let's wait a few more men + Nora books before they understand the power of a Nora's Hug ahahahahah)  but then again I wouldn't be able to not start sharing what I thought of those books and spoiling the discovery for him... and the man was in a GOOD part of "A Matter of choice" - I managed to read: "Kasey studied Jordan for a moment as Harry fixed himself another martini." so Kasey is meeting Jordan and... life happens ahahahah)  besides my station was fast arriving... So I just stole a pic of the (proud, for me) moment.

I'm opening a new label here on the blog called "People reading Nora"... I'll be on the look out for more.

"sending" Dear Husband to Lunacy

After his first experience - a successful one if you ask me - with Nora's books, dear husband has been dedicated to HIS kind of books.

I didn't push or even asked if he wanted to read more... as I was deep in The Obsession and waiting for my Bay of Sighs to arrive so I was a bit surprised when he asked: "find me something to read."
I asked: "do you want to read Nora again?"
He said "OK"

And that was it. I chose Northern Light because we talk constantly of Alaska and how much we'd like to visit. And - to be honest - I wanted to see and hear his reaction to Meg's outgoing and somehow unique ways.

So on June 10th he starts reading NORTHERN LIGHTS.

UPDATE

9 days after starting Northern Lights - yesterday - Dear Husband turned to me and said:

"After such a day - he had a Lish day with lots of things to do that as gratifying as they were tired him to the bone, and on top weather turned into August overnight, and he had been working outdoors for hours - all I want is to crawl back to Lunacy and Meg's Cabin".

And off he went to bed to read his book.

He's really enjoying it!!! I'm very happy with my husband enjoying one of my favorite books from Nora.

________________

UPDATE!

He's done it. It's August the 2nd and he took his time to enjoy and finish it. Those last pages seemed to take longer than the rest of the reading :). He liked it very much. He went through all the stages I did when reading the book which is curious as we're nothing alike. It was funny to see him pointing The Professor as the killer. It was sweet to see his bafflement and then the happiness and love for Meg. Admiration for Burke since day 1 and that he took his sweet time to read those last pages tells me he didn't want to leave Lunacy or this story. He's asking for more from Nora. I'm undecided between the Concannon Sisters or In the Garden Trilogies. He really loved the Quinn's - and already claiming that it's one of the kind -  so I think he prefers it to standalone novels.

Introducing Nora Roberts' Books to (MY) Man

It all started with a post I read online. In it a woman said how she'd love to introduce Nora Roberts' novels and characters to her son. She deemed her husband an hopeless case but she would love to "form" her son to be as good - great in fact - as Nora's male characters...

My husband reads frequently. An average of 10 books per year maybe. A leisure and for fun reader. All reading very manly of course. And some from writers that Nora also likes like Stephen King and Paul Auster.

The moment for "making" him read a Nora novel happened after he read his first Nicholas Sparks novel. His sister gave it to him and he - I believe he didn't have any other to read when the craving hit that day - picked it and read. Lots of teasing from my son... My daughter has a more each-to-their-own-what-do-I-care-what-dad's-reading attitude so no ribbing from her... And a plan started in my head...

When he was finished we were in that close-to-Christmas phase when you don't want to spend money indulging... so I pointed him "Sea Swept" in our bedroom shelves... he was like "Nora Roberts? That's for women" and I used something I read in one of NR novels "it doesn't mean you will grow breasts (by reading it)"... he might have (always) been curious about them because after saying "you never know. not taking chances" he was like "are you sure?" and I - using my what-do-I-care face - "sure. you might enjoy. story is nice. characters are fun. give it a try. if you don't like how it goes put it down"

And it ALL started. I used strategy to keep him on the path. I didn't disclose the series had 4 books... Men are such babies... and I kept asking what part he was in and instantly knowing and somehow we bonded over Cam and Seth and their story... midway in the reading I received that smirk meaning it's hot reading with lots of sex going on (with that sneer that meant "dirty lady. I like you, let's neck") ahahahahah

I laughed because he reacted almost in the same fashion  as my daughter - she was fifteen then (!!!) - when she caught me reading one of THOSE pages "Yiikes Mom. Gross" ahahahah... but he didn't put the book away. At all. Nearing the end he even took the book - on disguise ;) - to work so he could finish it during his lunch hour.

When he finished it I said there were books on each brother but he didn't HAVE to read them... Guess what?! - He wanted to...

He's now reading Chesapeake Blue and whenever I look at him he's smiling. I'm even getting a little jealous of Drusilla - this morning my husband called Drusilla by her petit nom - Dru!!! can you believe it? And he used Cam's expression how she's going to drive Seth crazy... with the same Cam's glee...

No, I don't know if he'll go on through all Nora Roberts' Novels I have. I'm not even sure if I want him to... his choice I guess...

A small secret Ladies!!!! He didn't grow breasts but he became - during THOSE parts - a bit more attentive if you know what I mean ;) ahahahahahahah
