Julia Roberts preparing for ‘Pretty Woman’

"Are you out of your mind?" Alex barked the question as he leaned over into her face.
"Do you have any idea what you were doing?"
She blinked, at once innocent and amused. "Research?"
He swore again, and Bess found she liked the way he raked
impatient fingers through his thick black hair. "Lady, just how far were you
intending to take your research?"
"How—? Oh." Her eyes brightened with laughter.
"Well no, not quite that far."

"My wife went nuts." Judd Malloy munched on his cherry Danish
while Alex swung in and out of downtown traffic. "She's a big fan of that
soap, you know? Tapes it every day when she's in school."
"Terrific." Alex had been doing his best to forget his little
encounter with the soap queen, but his partner wasn't cooperating.
"Holly figures it was just like meeting a celebrity."
"You don't find many celebrities turning tricks."
"Come on, Alex." Judd washed down the Danish with
heavily sugared coffee. "She wasn't, really."

‘I am still alive, I am still curious. I am not a piece of rotting flesh’ ~Agnès Varda

Turning, she studied the woman who sat in a royal-blue tufted chair.
The hair was pure white, but as full and thick as Laurel’s. It surrounded a face layered
and lined with wrinkles and unashamedly rouged. Olivia Armand wasn’t ashamed of
anything. Eyes as sharp and green as the emeralds in her ears studied Laurel in turn.
“Grandma.” With a sigh, Laurel bent to kiss her. “Will you never grow old?”
“Not if I have anything to say about it.” Her voice was raspy with age and stunningly
sensual.

The 90-year-old giant of the Nouvelle Vague on her latest film, Faces Places, life with Jacques Demy, and that ‘dirty rat’ Jean-Luc Godard

Agnès Varda is a dizzying blur of dots – polka-dot trousers, polka-dot shirt, polka-dot socks, polka-dot scarf. “I’ve always loved polka dots. Ah, oui. It is a joyful shape, the polka dot. It is alive.” You could say the same of Varda. She is more joyously alive than anybody I have ever met.

“I planned to watch a movie with dinner.”
“I like movies.”
“I was going to watch Steel Magnolias.”
He let out a long, long sigh. “I probably deserve that.”

Team Thought Tom Cruise Died While Shooting the Crazy Helicopter Stunt

“How messed up?”
“Broke a lot of bones, bruised a few organs, sliced
some skin.” He shrugged, but Parker didn’t buy it
had been that simple, that casual.
“It sounds serious. How long were you in the
hospital?”
“Put me out for a while,” he continued in that same
careless tone.

This exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from Mission: Impossible – Fallout details how the actor did one of his most harrowing scenes.

"There was an audible gasp from the crowd. That's a huge drop," says Henry Cavill.

Cruise himself is pretty cavalier about the whole thing, having done crazy stuff like this for years.

"You know it's going to be a big impact. It really knocks the wind out of me," Cruise says.

👠 Girls Night In

“Clare,” Avery said as Clare walked to the door. “Saturday, I’ll bring a second bottle of
wine, something gooey for dessert. And my pj’s.”

“Even better. Who needs a man when you’ve got a best girl pal?”

Clare laughed as Avery shot a hand in the air.

My Weekend

"You see the portraits?" he asked, leading her gently by the elbow for a closer look.
"There are eighty-nine, Scottish monarchs all. I'm told they were commissioned by
Charles II, though he never once entered Holyrood House, in fact
never returned to Scotland after the Restoration."

She knew her history, she thought irritably, but tried to show an interest.
"Aye. This is Robert the Bruce, a fierce soldier and well-loved king."
"I should have known a woman as well-read as you would know
her history and her politics."

Why Do We Like Watching Scary Films?

"Why?" He shrugged his shoulders. It always made him uncomfortable when
people asked him to analyze. "I don't know. Maybe because when people go into
a scary movie, they stop thinking about the lousy day they had at the office after
the opening scream."

Why do we love to watch scary horror films? Some psychologists claim people go to horror films because they want to be frightened or they wouldn't do it twice.

"The one who wrote that gory movie you and Sebastian dragged me to."

"It was really quite intelligent and sly."
"Hmm." Anastasia drank again. "And gory. Then again, you've always enjoyed that kind of thing."
"Watching evil is an entertaining way to reaffirm good."

Horror Movies to Get You Into the Halloween Spirit

"Good horror fiction's supposed to make you wake up at 3:00 A.M.
and wonder if you've locked your doors."

Let me start off by saying that fall and horror movies are two of my favorite things. Put them together and it's my absolute favorite time of year. As a child, horror movies would terrify me, but now I actually thoroughly enjoy them. Not much scares me anymore and I have no problem watching a horror movie or two, even before bed, especially during this glorious time of year. After you have seen as many of them as I have, there's not much left to fear. If you love to get scared and want to have a blast doing it, check out my personal horror movie recommendations below.

Memorable Swimsuits

A friend had persuaded her to accept the loan of a swimsuit, and Laine studied the two tiny pieces. She slipped on what had been described as a modified bikini. The silvery blue was flattering, highlighting her subtle curves, but no amount of adjustment could result in a more substantial coverage. There was definitely too much of her and too little suit.
“Silly,” Laine muttered and adjusted the halter strings a last time.
“Women wear these things all the time, and I’ve hardly the shape for drawing attention.”
Skinny. With a grimace, she recalled Miri’s judgment.
Laine gave the top a last, hopeless tug.
I don’t think all the fish in the Pacific are going to change this inadequacy.

The Most Memorable Swimsuits Ever

"What?" Distracted, he pulled himself back.
She was wearing two thin strips as an excuse for a bathing suit.
The water, and perhaps a trick of the light, made them glimmer against her skin. A great deal of skin.

Loving Jack

Feb 12, 2014

I have a confession to make...

... until yesterday I didn't know who Timothy Olyphant was. Is.

First time I "heard" about him it was in:

_______________________

She stopped, faced him. “So. I want to get married.”
“To me?”
“No, to Timothy Olyphant, but I’m settling for you.”
“Okay.”
“That’s it?”
“I’m still dealing with Timothy Olyphant, so give me a minute. I think I’m better-looking.”
“You would.”
“No, seriously. I’ve got better hair. But anyway.” He swooped her in, right up to her toes.

.........

“I really do love you,” she told him. “It’s kind of astonishing.”
“I’m a hell of a catch. Really better than Olyphant.”

Chasing Fire

But last night I watched this movie:

And if you haven't, go for it!

Small wonder Rowan brought him up - you know when you're throwing an hunk against another you should aim for one they would think of "competition" so you won't get back the "patsy" remark ahahahah
Funny, how before "knowing" Olyphant I'd imagine Gull pretty much this kind of guy
 - body, gestures, the tee-shirts and jeans type, soul... even the hair ahahahahah.

Some Pet!

Adrenaline born of panic gave her the strength to send the three of them rolling to the edge of the bank. As she struck out blindly, Lee heard Hunter issue a sharp command. A whimper followed it.

"Lenore." Her shoulders were gripped before she could spring to her feet. In her mind, the only thought was to find a weapon to defend them. "It's all right." Without giving her a choice, Hunter held her close. "It's all right, I promise. He won't hurt you."

"My God, Hunter, it's a wolf!" Every nightmare she'd ever read or heard about fangs and claws spun in her mind. With her arms wrapped around him to protect, as much as for protection, Lee turned her head. Silver eyes stared back at her from a silver coat.

"No." He felt the fresh fear jump through her and continued to soothe. "He's only half wolf."

Second Nature

_____________

Sansa Stark's actress adopted her real-life direwolf

She adds: “Growing up I always wanted a dog, but my parents never wanted one. We kind of fell in love with my character’s dire wolf, Lady, on set.”

And in case you want your own direwolf, Zunni is a Mahlek Northern Inuit Dog. Not sure if it comes with a thirst for Lanister blood or not, but we’re sure you can train that out of them.

As they pulled up behind the Jeep, a huge silver-gray form bounded around the side of the house. Shade swore in sheer astonishment.

"That must be Santanas." Bryan laughed but gave the dog a wary going-over with her door firmly closed.

Fascinated, Shade watched the muscles bunch as the dog moved. But the tail was wagging, the tongue lolling.

Some pet, he decided. "It looks like a wolf."

"Yeah." She continued to look out the window as the dog paced up and down the side of the van. "Lee tells me he's friendly."

"Fine. You go first"

Bryan shot him a look that he returned with a casual smile. Letting out a deep breath, Bryan opened the door. "Nice dog," she told him as she stepped out, keeping one hand on the handle of the door. "Nice Santanas."

"I read somewhere that Brown raised wolves," Shade said

snow white and the huntsman

Last night we watched "Snow White and the Huntsman". The film is nice. The story engaging, but what I enjoyed best was seeing two of Nora's books in it: "Key of Valor" (Key Trilogy) and "Winter Rose".
When you like and read Nora you know that's bound to happen - hence this blog - so, if you like NR, read those books, go search for the film - you won't regret it.

But he stepped back as she approached.
Then he bent his forelegs, lowered his great head in what was unmistakably a bow.
And vanished, in a shimmer of light.

Key of Valor

The first part of the movie (before heroine's rescuing if you want) looks like "taken" from one of Nora's   best books: "Winter Rose"

Through it, as far as he could see, the world was white.
The sun was a dim haze behind the white curtain that draped the sky, but it managed to sparkle a bit on the ice that surrounded the castle. In the distance, he saw the shadows of the forest, hints of black and gray smothered in snow. In the north, far north, mountains speared up.
White against white.
Closer in, at the feet of the castle, the snow spread in sheets and blankets. He saw no movement, no tracks. No life.
Were they alone here? he wondered. He and the woman who called herself a queen?
Then he saw her...
