Guys Who Love Dogs Make The BEST Husbands

First there’d been lust, she thought, naturally enough. Then interest and several
layers of attraction. She’d been prepared—or had been trying to prepare—to shuffle all
those impulses aside and be sensible.
Now, seeing him with her dog, she felt the warming around the heart that signaled—
uh-oh—personal affection. Add that to lust and attraction and a woman, even a sensible
woman, was sunk.

They're man's best friend for a reason.

Yes, dogs are man's best friend. But they should be you're best friend, too, because they've prepared their owners for being the most amazing husbands ever. So it you're looking for love, you should definitely look for a guy who loves dogs for these reasons.

His hand stroked up and down her back, the way she sometimes stroked Bert.
No wonder the dog loved it. Her heartbeat slowed to the rhythm, and everything
inside her uncoiled.

Mentions in Nora's books

“It’s a favorite of mine, so I hope you like it.”
Curious, he ripped the protective brown paper off, then broke into a huge grin.
“You’re not going to believe this.”
“You have it already?”
“Nope. My mother does. Happens it’s one of her favorites, too.”
It pleased her to hear it. “I imagine she was fond of Maxfield Parrish’s work or she
wouldn’t have named her son after the artist.”
“She has a few of his prints. This one’s in her sitting room. What’s it called again?”

”Lady Violetta About to Make Tarts” Laine told him as they both studied the framed
print of a pretty woman standing in front of a chest and holding a small silver pitcher.

Is Love at First Sight Real?

“You don’t believe in love at first sight, do you?”
“Sure I do. It’s all chemicals and stuff. There was this whole program on it on PBS. I think it was PBS. Maybe it was The Learning Channel. Anyway.” She waved that part aside. “They’ve done all these studies on attraction and sex and relationships. Mostly, it boils down to chemicals, instincts, pheromones, then building on that. Besides, you know Vince and I met when I was in first grade. I went right home from school and told my mom that I was going to marry Vince Burger. Took us a while to get there. State law’s pretty firm about six-year-olds getting hitched. But it sure was the right mix of chemicals from day one.”

A compelling idea, but is there scientific evidence to support it?

Love at first sight: Is it possible? Do people really meet and in moments simply know they're meant to be? New evidence suggests that yes, they do.

Are newborns ugly?

Max saw photos of a newborn with a bright thatch of red hair and skin as white as cream,
and an expression on her little face that seemed to say,
“What the hell am I doing here?”

Research says newborns rated 'less cute' than older babies

t turns out that adults find the faces of babies most appealing at around the six-month mark, says new research from Brock University.

_____________

Logan studied the tiny form bunking in a patch of dappled sunlight.
He'd seen babies before, even had his share of personal contact with them.
To him, newborns bore a strange resemblance to fish. Something about the eyes, he thought.
And this one had all that black hair going for her, so she looked like a human sea creature.
Sort of exotic and otherworldly.
If Gavin had been around, and Hayley out of hearing distance, he'd have suggested that this particular baby looked something like the offspring of Aquaman and Wonder Woman.
The kid would've gotten it.
Babies always intimidated him.
Something about the way they looked right back at you,
as if they knew a hell of a lot more than you did and
were going to tolerate you until they got big enough
to handle things on their own.

Memory Games

He smelled of rain and soap and...
Brut, she realized.
And the aftershave had some flicker of memory
trying to light in her brain.

Smelling Art with Sissel Tolaas

We’re used to looking at art, hearing art, perhaps touching it. But smelling? This artist is trying to change the way we think about using our noses.

Memorable Swimsuits

A friend had persuaded her to accept the loan of a swimsuit, and Laine studied the two tiny pieces. She slipped on what had been described as a modified bikini. The silvery blue was flattering, highlighting her subtle curves, but no amount of adjustment could result in a more substantial coverage. There was definitely too much of her and too little suit.
“Silly,” Laine muttered and adjusted the halter strings a last time.
“Women wear these things all the time, and I’ve hardly the shape for drawing attention.”
Skinny. With a grimace, she recalled Miri’s judgment.
Laine gave the top a last, hopeless tug.
I don’t think all the fish in the Pacific are going to change this inadequacy.

The Most Memorable Swimsuits Ever

"What?" Distracted, he pulled himself back.
She was wearing two thin strips as an excuse for a bathing suit.
The water, and perhaps a trick of the light, made them glimmer against her skin. A great deal of skin.
