Guys Who Love Dogs Make The BEST Husbands

First there’d been lust, she thought, naturally enough. Then interest and several
layers of attraction. She’d been prepared—or had been trying to prepare—to shuffle all
those impulses aside and be sensible.
Now, seeing him with her dog, she felt the warming around the heart that signaled—
uh-oh—personal affection. Add that to lust and attraction and a woman, even a sensible
woman, was sunk.

They're man's best friend for a reason.

Yes, dogs are man's best friend. But they should be you're best friend, too, because they've prepared their owners for being the most amazing husbands ever. So it you're looking for love, you should definitely look for a guy who loves dogs for these reasons.

His hand stroked up and down her back, the way she sometimes stroked Bert.
No wonder the dog loved it. Her heartbeat slowed to the rhythm, and everything
inside her uncoiled.

Things You Should Do Every Sunday

Morgana enjoyed the peace of Sunday afternoons. It was her day to indulge
herself-and from her first breath, Morgana had appreciated indulgences. Not that
she avoided work. She had put a great deal of time and effort into seeing that her
shop ran smoothly and turned a profit-without using her special skills to smooth
her path. Still, she firmly believed that the proper reward for any effort was
relaxation.

When you think about your perfect Sunday, it could involve sleeping in, going out for brunch, and then binge watching Netflix. Unfortunately, most entrepreneurs can't enjoy that luxury. Either we're tied down to a completing a deadline or we simply just can't sit there and not be productive. The thing is, you do need to enjoy some time away from the business. You can actually step away from work and still have a productive Sunday by doing the following six things. If you do, you'll notice that you'll be more productive, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle the work week when your alarm goes off on Monday morning.

“Didn’t come in until Sunday, and I had the day off—fond, fond memory.
You guys get Sundays off?”
“Now and again.”
“Something about sleeping in on a Sunday morning,
or sleeping off Saturday night
until Sunday afternoon. But Monday always comes.”

🥂 Happy NORA's Day 🍰

The one gift Ana always gave herself on her birthday was a completely free day.
She could be as lazy as she chose, or as industrious. She could get up at dawn
and gorge on ice cream for breakfast, or she could laze in bed until noon
watching old movies on television.
The single best plan for the one day of the year that belonged only to her was no
plan at all.

“She stopped having them about ten years ago.
We just call it Marlene’s Day.”
“Smart woman.”

Mentions in Nora's books

“It’s a favorite of mine, so I hope you like it.”
Curious, he ripped the protective brown paper off, then broke into a huge grin.
“You’re not going to believe this.”
“You have it already?”
“Nope. My mother does. Happens it’s one of her favorites, too.”
It pleased her to hear it. “I imagine she was fond of Maxfield Parrish’s work or she
wouldn’t have named her son after the artist.”
“She has a few of his prints. This one’s in her sitting room. What’s it called again?”

”Lady Violetta About to Make Tarts” Laine told him as they both studied the framed
print of a pretty woman standing in front of a chest and holding a small silver pitcher.

The One Thing 11 Relationship Experts Think You Should Know About Your Partner Before Marrying

"Why do you want to marry me?"
"That's it?" His brows rose, and then he was laughing and holding her close. "I thought you were going to ask me a tough one. I want to marry you because I love you and I need you in my life. It changed when you walked into it."
"And tomorrow?"
"A two-part question," he murmured. "I could promise you anything." He drew her away to kiss her cheek, then her brow, then her lips. "I wish there were guarantees, but there aren't. I can only tell you that when I think about tomorrow, when I think about ten years from tomorrow, I think about you. I think about us."
He couldn't have said it better, she thought as she touched his face. No, there weren't any guarantees, but they had a chance. A good one.
"Can I ask you one more thing?"
"As long as I'm going to get an answer eventually."
"Do you believe in Santa Claus?"
What made it perfect, even more than perfect, was that he didn't even hesitate. "Sure. Doesn't everyone?" Now she smiled, completely.
"I love you, Sam."

Before getting married, it's important to come to several layers of understanding with your partner. Obviously you'll want to discuss where you think you'd like to live, as well as fun things like how often you'd like to go on vacation. (You know, couple-y stuff.) But you'll also want to have some serious conversations before getting married.
While not always the most fun, it's important to ask the hard questions and learn as much as you can so you know who, exactly, you're marrying.

It was very odd waking up with a man in your bed. A man took up considerable room, for one thing, and she wasn’t used to worrying about how she looked the minute she opened her eyes in the morning.
She supposed she’d get over the last part, if she continued to wake up with this man in her bed for any length of time. And she could always get a bigger bed to compensate for the first part.
The question was, how did she feel about sharing her bed—and wasn’t that just a metaphor for her life?—with this man for any length of time? She hadn’t had time to think it through, hadn’t taken time, she corrected.
Closing her eyes, she tried to imagine it was a month later. Her garden would be exploding, and she’d be thinking about summer clothes, about getting her outdoor furniture from the shed. Henry would be due for his annual vet appointment.
She’d be planning Jenny’s baby shower.
Laine opened one eye, squinted at Max.
He was still there. His face was squashed into the pillow, his hair all cute and tousled.
So, she felt pretty good about having him there a month from now.
Try six months. She closed her eyes again and projected.

Is Love at First Sight Real?

“You don’t believe in love at first sight, do you?”
“Sure I do. It’s all chemicals and stuff. There was this whole program on it on PBS. I think it was PBS. Maybe it was The Learning Channel. Anyway.” She waved that part aside. “They’ve done all these studies on attraction and sex and relationships. Mostly, it boils down to chemicals, instincts, pheromones, then building on that. Besides, you know Vince and I met when I was in first grade. I went right home from school and told my mom that I was going to marry Vince Burger. Took us a while to get there. State law’s pretty firm about six-year-olds getting hitched. But it sure was the right mix of chemicals from day one.”

A compelling idea, but is there scientific evidence to support it?

Love at first sight: Is it possible? Do people really meet and in moments simply know they're meant to be? New evidence suggests that yes, they do.

Memory Games

He smelled of rain and soap and...
Brut, she realized.
And the aftershave had some flicker of memory
trying to light in her brain.

Smelling Art with Sissel Tolaas

We’re used to looking at art, hearing art, perhaps touching it. But smelling? This artist is trying to change the way we think about using our noses.
